Because the fabric hasn't been pre-washed, raw denim vests are pretty stiff when you put them on the first time. It takes a few weeks of regular wear to break-in and loosen up this gray denim vest. The dye in the denim fabric can rub off as well. 

Raw denim is denim that hasn't been washed or treated. It is the purest form of denim, and the primary choice of denim for Denim Fanatics. Raw denim is also known as 'dry denim' and 'unwashed denim.  

The starch is what makes the fabric so stiff, and the starch chips off with the indigo the more you wear it and it becomes softer and softer and the indigo becomes less and less, and as that happens, you are personalizing your vest in a way that really could never be done by anyone else.

It takes a few weeks of regular wear to break-in and loosen up this gray denim vest. Always hang dry your denim vest and avoid the dryer. The heat will cause the fibers to break apart and the denim will not last near as long. You shouldn't wash it until you feel as though it's properly broken in. Most denim will conform to your body and as soon as you wash it, the shape is lost.
