Street Vibrations Spring Rally 2022 — VCMCo. on the Ground in Virginia City

The Street Vibrations Spring Rally 2022 was one of those events where everything was a little bit of a battle — the booth costs, the weather, the logistics — and yet it still ended up being worth it. Here's how it went from where I was standing, right on C Street in Virginia City, Nevada.

Finding Another Way: The Delta Saloon Save

Let's start with the booth situation. The production company's pricing for vendor space was not something a small, independent, local brand like VCMCo. was going to absorb without a fight. I'm not in the business of paying semi-truck vendor rates when I'm running a one-woman operation with a completely unique product line. So I found another way.

A huge thank you to the owner of The Delta Saloon, for generously sharing a portion of his parking lot. That kind of local-to-local support is what makes Virginia City's business community something special. I won't forget it.

And for the record — those big professional vendor tents are impressive. But they don't have what I have. Every design I sell is completely original, and anything else you might find at a rally? You can find it on my website. That's the difference.

Cold, Windy, and Worth It

The weather was not cooperating. Cold and windy — not exactly ideal riding conditions for a spring rally in the Sierra Nevada foothills. But the riders who showed up are my people. The ones who suit up regardless, who make the ride because that's just what you do. I was genuinely glad to meet every one of them.

And the feedback was encouraging. Multiple people told me they drove up to Virginia City specifically to get a shirt from VCMCo. That's not something you take for granted. That means the brand is building real recognition in the local riding community, and that's exactly what we're here for.

The Bikes, the Tunes, and a New Friend from Hawaii

The bikes on display were something else — beautiful machines, and more than a few of them were rolling sound systems. Riders sharing their music on C Street while there was no other entertainment going on made the whole atmosphere. My little speaker was doing its best, but I'll admit it had some competition.

I also had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful woman who had just relocated to the area from Hawaii. She spent part of the afternoon teaching me Hawaiian words. I retained exactly one: Aloha. She was a great reminder that the riding community draws people from everywhere, and Northern Nevada has a way of pulling in the right ones.

No Virginia City Rally Shirts? That's Our Lane.

Here's the thing that stuck with me most from the weekend: riders kept mentioning that there were no rally shirts with Virginia City on them. Not from the production company, not from the big vendor tents. Nothing that said Virginia City, Nevada.

That's VCMCo.'s lane. That's always been our lane. We are the Virginia City motorcycle apparel brand — built here, designed around this place, and proud of it. If you want a shirt that actually represents where you rode, where you stopped, where you felt the history of this town under your boots — that's what we make.
